Petar Stanović

Born in 1977 in Zadar; graduated from the Visual Arts School in Split. He is currently senior undergraduate student of sculpture at the Accademia de Belle Arti di Brera in Milan, Italy. Resides in Zadar and Imola.

The artist sees his work as the confrontation, the open dialog with the strong didactic aspect. His objects, sculpture and space installations are not "final products", they associate to the idea and continuous action.

The elements from the works of art known in art history (Brancusi, Malevich, monochrome painting) are present in his work in an ironic and paradoxical manner.

       |  installation: two sickles, metal, wood,
       acrylic, Ø cca 2m

The three combines the tension of the two elements of contradictory nature.

On the one side the formal object of the sickle, with all its ideological connotations. On the other, its antithesis in the mystical-religious element of the number three or the Indian mantra Om, to which the very form of the object points.

The circle - context or conjunction of these dialectic elements is characteristic of the truth of the painterly surface, and precisely is the reason of the stacking (coats) and not merging and thus, confrontation. A dialogue, not a synthesis.

The idea of confrontation, visible in the object - three, is close to the deconstructionist dissemination of the one into the mass because of which a specific "postponement of the subject" happens.
