Igor Eškinja

Born 1975 in Rijeka. He has studied art at the Pedagogical Academy in Rijeka and has graduated at Accademia di Belle Arti in Venice.

The artist is realizing his works by direct application on the wall or floor of the gallery spaces. His works are realized very discretely and require the interaction of the viewer. He has exhibited on numerous exhibitions and was on a study residency in Berlin.

Java and Borneo

       2004.
       |  installation, dimensions variable,
       Scotch tape and remodelled scissors

The work is conceived as drawing in the corner of the gallery, spreading over two walls and the floor.

The drawing shows an exotic ambiance of faraway islands, creating a spatial illusion. It is executed by a hatched line (following the aesthetic of the coupons of prize games) which is amalgamating the idea of imagination and voidness in a single form.
